Why People use Perfume?

9 Reasons!!!

1. Fragrance - number one and common reason. It helps keep unwanted body odour and ensures you smell good all day.

2. Enhances Mood - helps lift your spirits. People wear it to project their mood.

3. Boost Confidence - just like a pretty dress. Ensures that you get through the day without feeling conscious of your body odour. Choose a scent that suits your personality.

4. Makes you attractive - the sense of smell is one of the most important of the five senses. Sometimes, you can get attracted to someone because of the way they smell. Perfumes re rich in pheromones and make you attractive.

5. Aphrodisiac - this explains why you get attracted to someone e.g. by scent

6. Boost Health - (emotional) keeps stress and other anxiety related issues away.

7. Trigger Memories - many women wear their mother's signature scent to revive memories.

8. Aromatherapy - ensures your stress level is in control.

9. Treats Insomnia - for relaxation.

What is a PERFUME?

What is a perfume?
A perfume is a mixture of fragrant essential oils or aroma compounds, fixatives and solvents. It is used to give humans, animals, foods, objects an agreeable scent.

Did you know that perfumery began in ancient Mesopotamia and Egypt and was further refined by the Romans and Arabs? The word perfume derives from the Latin "perfumare", meaning 'to smoke through'.

Tappult Belatehallin was the first perfume maker-and first woman chemist- mentioned in a cuneiform tablet from the 2nd millennium B.C. of Mesopotamia.

Vy Scenté - my own organic perfume brand name. I got the idea from my nickname-to-be which is VY and the word SCENT. I made it sound like the male names "Vincent" or "Vicente". I thought it made it cool :)

Photos of my Perfumes

Yey! Week 3 of Passion Project.

How are you? I did my perfumes. Calling for celebrations. But, we don't have time for that now cause I have a research to do in order to inform everyone about perfumes.

Do you like perfumes? What kind of scent is your favourite? Did you know that your personality and mood can be describe using fragrance? Maybe, we are using perfumes just to look nice and put together. But there's nothing wrong with that.

I have used ethanol alcohol with 95% concentration to determine which is better, organic or synthetic?

Here are my final products. I decorated the bottles last week with washi tape and stickers. Isn't it cute?

Follow my blog about this project to learn more. My research will come up soon < 3

Figurative Languages

Figurative languages, commonly used in novels, poems, and songs, are very useful to help you describe something and easier to understand. This device can improve our writing.

During my middle school years, I've already learned these language features. But this time, it's something different. Our English teacher carefully taught us each of the devices. So far, we have learnt Simile, Metaphor, Alliteration, and Onomatopoeia.

Simile - it is used to compare two things using the words 'like' and 'as'.
e.g. Your eyes are like the stars, shining beautifully.
Yohan is as cool as a celebrity.

Metaphor - almost similar to Simile but, this language feature does not use 'like' and 'as'. This also compares one to another.
e.g. Dogs are superheroes, they make people smile and forget sadness.

Alliteration - a sentence made with the same first letter of the words the same. Rhymes and Alliteration are different, as rhymes have the same sounds at the end of the word.
e.g. Ricky ran in the race for a ring and rice.

Onomatopoeia - the sounds/sound effects you hear. When these onomatopeia words are pronounced, they are the same with the sound you actually heard.
e.g. Bells ring, tomatoes splat, heels tap, phones beep, etc.

Organic Perfume Blog

Making your own perfume. Sounds exciting, right? Indeed. Making your own organic perfume is very beneficial, to you, and to the environment.

A week ago, I started experimenting my formulae and ratios. Since I can only get lavender oil, sweet orange oil, and peppermint oil, my scents are limited. I can't find jojoba oil yet at this point. Distilled water, the answer for the absence of jojoba oil as my carrier oil.

So far, my research has been going well. I am working quickly. Surprisingly, my plans for the next period are being completed before the time. I was about to put my videos and photos but a year * students deleted it so, wait 'till today and I'm going to give you a peek on what I'm doing.

Performance Arts

This year, we had a lot of music projects in Mrs Beer's class. All of them are my favourite, but if I were to choose one, I'd pick the 'Composing My Own'. With this project, I can express reality. Showing the real world, the real feelings, the real you, is very uncommon because we, people, are afraid of prejudice, judgement and comparisons.

What I found challenging this year is being consistent on your work and passion for music. So to incoming year 10 music students, here are some words for you

Music lets us express the real us. Just be yourself, don't be afraid to get out of the shadows. Take one step at a time. Erase those negative thoughts of 'maybe I'll make a mistake', 'they will laugh at me', 'I'm no good at this', 'I'm shy'. Fighting!

My goals for 2019

I'd improve my piano and guitar skills. Maybe in the future, I can write an inspiring song for everyone!

Performance Evaluation

Last week, Alyana and I performed 'The Only Exception' in front of the class and Mrs Beer. Actually, Alyana suggested the song to me and I thought it's fine because I kinda know the song. We had lots of options to choose from and we ended up with this song that was not on the list. Because I'm not familiar with the song very well, Alyana helped me a lot (thanks for your patience) to play the acoustic guitar while singing. The lyrics are telling a story wherein some parts I can relate to. This song made me get out of my comfort zone, by trying a bass guitar (of course with Alyana's help), and also using a capo for the first time :) Though our performance is not perfectly fine, I'm happy with it because we finally finished our last assessment; the audience liked it; and lastly, I made myself proud!

If we could perform again, we could change the bass guitar into an acoustic bass guitar to match with my acoustic guitar. And more practice, seriously. But overall, I'm happy with it. Thanks to Mrs Beer <3

Reflection

Alyana and I knew a lot more things as of today. For example, Puerto Vallarta, the most affected city, is located in Jalisco. Now, we are confident that our area of research is right. The aftermaths and responses are now revealed to us. Next week, we are going to practice presenting this. Over the weekend, we are going to justify and redo our paragraphs.

Reflection

I finished the writing the paragraph about the natural impacts of Hurricane Patricia on the Southwestern Pacific Coast of Mexico. It's quite difficult to research about this because though it's the strongest recorded hurricane ever it DIDN"T cause that much harm. After 24 hours of landfall, it quickly dies off as it encountered the mountainous terrain of Mexico.
