Time Travel

I went to the park crying, thinking about all my problems as a 26 year old employed girl then I saw child drowning in the pond but his parents didn’t notice him so I jump onto  the water and tried to save him, his father saw us, he quickly powered the engine of a boat going towards us. I lifted the child to the boat first, the father will then grab my hand but water swallowed me and a solar eclipse occur, I continue from going down and felt unconscious. I can see the light above and I can feel the ground but I’m still in water, I quickly get up and find myself in an unfamiliar place with native people who has fair skin, small eyes, in a hanbok, they are washing their clothes. Suddenly, a girl approached me as her master with a different name, I told her that’s not my name and she mistaken me for someone but she insist that it’s me. She’s really happy that I’m alive, “Did you lost your memory Lady Ly? Is it because you almost died?” she said while crying. She grabbed my hand and went to a nice place, everybody seems waiting for me, they took me in to a very beautiful room and changed my clothes into a new clean dress, a luxurious hanbok, they are all nice to me and let me rest for a bit.

My Point of View: (POV)

Why am I here? Did I drowned earlier while saving the kid? Why are they saying they know me but calling me in a different name? After some time I thought maybe I possessed a dying girl in here and now it’s me. I started to cry, I don’t know what do, what if they kill me once they knew that I’m a different person? But I don’t want to go back either, maybe someone granted my wish earlier to escape my problems. This girl’s life is so nice and much better here, I just need to be careful and act like them so I can live here. I fell asleep for crying too much.

I woke up, seeing everything so unreal, I ran outside to take a look, the people greeted me but they are like native people with old clothing of Korea. Am I still dreaming? I asked them where am I, they look worried about me and at the same time grateful that I’m alive, someone said that I’m in the house of my father, a physician who has the Highest Bone Rank in the capital of Silla under the ruling of King Jinheung, he is a very know king even in the modern times because of he is one of the greatest King that unifies the Three Kingdoms of Korea: Goguryeo, Silla and Baekje.

Preparation for Keyboard Skill Test

Questions

1. which song did you chose to work on and why? Add the link to the song.

I chose DESPACITO for my keyboard practice and to play next week in front of the class on test because firstly, I know this song very well (as you know it's so much popular), people keep playing it on radios and singing along with it meanwhile the other songs, it's my first to see and heard them so I know if I choose them it will be difficult for me to perform. I also the "What About Us" song but I prefer "Despacito" over that because the melody of that song is too hard for me to play in keyboard and I don't know much of the song that's why.

2. Which parts have you found challenging?

I found it challenging in the part wherein I'm playing using both of my hands though I'm used in playing two hands but this time it's the thrill particularly the transition of chords, from Bm to G then D is easy for me, but the chord is going to A and that's the specific part where I am challenged but I kept trying till I get it right, I used my whole period of time in Music in getting it right.

3. How are you feeling about the skills test and performance?

It's a privilege to play keyboard in front of the class and my teacher, I feel so excited how I will play next week, I hope I don't make even a single tiny mistake. I want to develop more my skill, and share it to others too.

SpaceX Car Launch

Journal Entry No. 2

SpaceX launch Falcon Heavy without a 100% assured of success. Their skills and thoughts amazed me,
also they way they shout out their happiness in the video that I can feel their hard works for this project.
The quality of the videos and pictures they produced are also incredible.
Now, I’m curious what would happen next? Or what will change? 20th Century has this kind of science
skills, what would happen in 21st Century?
I also noticed that the rocket they use or the core booster they call came back to earth and can be used
again. Saving money, conserving energy and reusing it. That’s what we can call eco-friendly,
except the smoke/combustion it produced. I hope this will be a value that we can learn.
Elon Musk said that he wants the test flight of Roadster to be less boring so they sent it to space and
showed really incredible thing to all human beings

Shipwreck Sailor
4-Day Journal Entry No.1

Introduction

Scenario: The ship I was on board crashed, I kept swimming and found an island and got stuck there without anything or anyone with me, let's find out how I survived or will I survive?

Day 1

I swam for 3 hours under the bright sunny sky that burned my skin. I was scared and panicked that I might frown due to tiredness or stroke. Now I'm stuck here in this island without somebody and nothing with me. I just managed to find a rope, some wood sticks and dry leaves to make fire for the night I thought I was just having a dream that later on I will become a mermaid and swim through the ocean to my home; and I fell asleep.

Day 2

I barely slept last night, scared of what may happen in a cold-starry night. Good thing there's still the bright sky, stars are shinning and the moon smiling kept me accompany. I never thought that night sky will this be beautiful here, it's so much different from what we see in the city. I woke tired and the sunlight hurting my eyes, I can't feel my bed nor my pillow. I thought what happened is just a nightmare but it turned out to be real. I can hear the waves from the ocean, the sea breeze that full wakes me up. Now, I can hear the sound my stomach made, I went in the deep forest and saw a banana tree with a not full-ripe 10 bananas, I took it using a stick. This is not the time to be choosy. I went back t the seashore, washed my face and just sat there eating my bananas.

Day 3

I was blessed I did not starve yesterday. I remember from last day that I didn't feel my hunger for losing all my energy swimming under the hot-sunny day. I have 4 bananas left for this day, I want to eat a proper meal, I'm going crazy that I'm really starving and scared, what if I die here? I went to the forest for the second time, I found big rocks and vines and jump there from one to another to entertain myself then suddenly something feel from my pants, it's a plastic pouch with something heavy inside it. A phone!! My phone! I quickly ran to it to check if there's still power. It's not wet neither broken because it's inside my waterproof selfie pouch, but there's no signal. It still has 84% battery. I took pictures of me and the beautiful forest and beach assuming I could show it to my friends when I get out of here, I wish. I didn't saw any fruit or food to eat except this hard- shell coconut. I don't know how to open this thing without anything tho. But it's summer and I'm very thirsty, I went back to the seaside and on my way back I saw a pointy rock, I used it to open my coconut but the rock break, I wanted to kill myself that time. I can't live like this. I grab the coconut and my phone and continue to walk, crying. I gathered colourful wide leaves to spell a big word HELP on the sand so if anyone flying up there can read it and rescue me. I also made myself a shelter made out of leaves and tie it using the vines. I barely made fire for the night and wash myself in the sea.

Day 4

Looks like I'mm getting used to this now, I slept comfortably last night, my shelter and fire warmed me up. I washed myself, thinking about my hunger. I spent a few more time on the water and I saw a fish swimming with me, I don't want to be rude to this friend but I grabbed it using my hand without any hesitation, ran back to my shelter and made fire for 2 hour, I can eat now! I skewered my fish and grill it. now, I came back to my senses, I just realised it's so fishy I'm going crazy due to hunger, I can't stop thinking that this will be the cause of my death. But at least I ate I have 2 bananas and 1 coconut I have energy now, I picked some beautiful flowers and leaves, I made a beautiful hair dress and skirt I have good song on my phone and start dancing. I put the volume to max. I saw big sharp rock, again, get my coconut again and try opening it, it's a miracle isn't it? It opened with so much juice, I drank it. I lay down in my shelter facing the ocean and I feel like I'm on a cheap vacation trip with these. While I was laying down under the sun, I started breathing heavily, I can't speak, my words are mumbling, I can't even move. It feels like the heat is conquering my body, I want to shout fro help but I can't. It's a great thing that before my eyes close I saw a very wonderful view of the world and felt happy.

Slave Trade Triangle Map

What is the Slave Trade Triangle?

The voyage of Christopher Columbus from Europe to Africa to America then back to Europe along the Atlantic Sea in a triangle route that slave Africans for richness.

The First Passage: from Europe to Africa

The British, French, Danish and Dutch all do the same. They bring guns and weapons to trade with African Kings

Middle Passage: from Africa to America

Africans were sold in Caribbean and the rest became the first African Slaves to take to Charles Town in USA processed for auction. It was here where the cotton, tobacco, sugar cane and other product slaves produced were put on ships..

Third Passage: from America back to Europe

All cotton, tobacco an other products are sent to Europe. Once ships gets to Europe, they are sold then more guns and weapons were purchased.

Word Art

Personal Safety, Food Safety, and Hygiene in a colour coding. I put the things we all need to remember and do before, during and after making/cooking food. I also include my definitions of personal and food safety, and hygiene. I made it in light colours and bright to attract people to view and to easily remember them. All words in RED are all about Personal Safety, BLUE for Hygiene while Food Safety is in GREEN colour.

Reflection

Doing Mise En Place practices is easy to do but at the same time hard to deal with. Using the right boards and stuffs under pressure. But we kept our unit clean and neat, we washed our hands, tied our hair up, wore a clean apron and we also put our bags in the front. We carefully used knives, and the heat in the stove. But when we rush over something, it's tempting to just use different board for different food.

FRIED RICE

Ingredients

  • 1 cup long grain white rice
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vegetable oil
  • 2 bacon rashers, chopped
  • 1 carrot, peeled and grated
  • 2 shallots, trimmed, finely sliced
  • 1/2 cup frozen peas, thawed
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce, plus extra to serve

Method

1. Cook the rice in a large saucepan of boiling water for 12 minutes or until tender.
Drain and leave to cool ( http://www.thekitchn.com/how-to-cook-rice-on-the-stove-44333).

2. Prepare vegetables and bacon: Chop bacon. Peel and grate carrot. Finely slice shallots.

3. Using a whisk, lightly beat eggs in a small bowl. Heat oil in non-stick wok or large frying pan over medium heat. Add eggs. Swirl over base to form an omelette. Cook 2 minutes. Turnover. Cook 2 minutes until set. Transfer to a chopping board. Set aside to cool slightly. Cut into short strips.

4. Add bacon to wok. Cook 4 minutes until light golden. Add carrot. Stir fry 1 minute. Add shallots, peas and rice. Cook, stirring, 3-4 minutes. Add egg and soy sauce. Stir until heated through. Serve immediately, with extra soy.

We should coordinate properly as a team, like assigned works for who's gong to slice vegetables, cook the rice, who's going to keep the are clean, wash the dishes and cook the others.

Our fried rice turned our to be slightly wet or watery because we put much water for our rice

Rice Patties

9. Spray muffin trays with cooking spray and then spoon mixture into the trays. Top with remaining cheese.
10. Place in the oven for 15 minutes until the tops turn golden brown.
Rice Patties

Rice Patties

In making our food; FOOD SAFETY, PERSONAL SAFETY, and HYGIENE comes first. It is not just about how delicious the food is but also the quality of how it is made.

In this practicum, we made some small mistakes again. The plan of assigned tasks or works is not fulfilled. For the second time, we just do what we want to. Working as a team should have a good communication, not because I'm not used in washing dishes or frying chicken does not mean I'm not going to do it because others can. In this class, we will experience doing all sort of handy and messy things, it's no time to be choosy.

Washing our hands, tying our hair up, wearing apron, putting our bags on the front and arranging the chairs became our routine every Wednesdays. I'm getting used to where are the equipments stored and what should we do to the rubbish and towels after cooking.

Our Chicken Rice Patties turned out good, sort of, when we put sauce on it or ketchup. The cheese and chicken are not evenly spread to all trays because of some opposite options in our team that caused a very small argument but it's all good now. We are still hoping for better performance for the next practicum.

Year 10 Science

ARTHRITIS

Arthritis is a condition that makes your joints stiff, swollen, inflame or pain.

The word arthritis comes from the Greek word "arthro" (joint) and "itis" (inflammation).

Arthritis is very common but is not well understood. Arthritis is not a single disease; it is an informal way of referring to joint pain or joint disease. There are more than 100 types of arthritis and related conditions.

The most common symptoms are swelling, pain and stiffness. Symptoms may come and go. They can be mild, moderate and severe.

"People of all ages can do have arthritis"

They can stay for about years, but it may progress or get worse over time. It is most common in women and occurs more frequently as people get older.

Arthritis can cause permanent changes to your joints. These changes may be visible. Severe arthritis can cause chronic pain that affects your daily routines and abilities such as climbing and walking. Some types of arthritis are related or affects the heart, lungs, eyes and kidneys.

Common Types of Arthritis

Osteoarthritis - a type of joint disease that results from breakdown of joint cartilage and underlying bone. The cartilage wears away that causes the bones to rub each other.

Risk Factors:

  • Excess weight
  • Family History
  • Age
  • Previous Injury  (eg: Anterior Crucial Ligament-ACL, tear)

When the joint symptoms of osteoarthritis are mild or moderate, they can be managed by:

  • balancing activity with rest using hot and cold therapies
  •  regular physical activity
  • maintaining a healthy weight
  • strengthening the muscles around the joint for added support using assistive devices
  • taking over-the-counter (OTC) pain relievers or anti-inflammatory medicines
  • avoiding excessive repetitive movements

If the symptoms are severe, causing limited mobility and affecting the quality of your daily life, some of the management strategies listed above might also help but joint replacement may be necessary so go see a professional/doctor and don't diagnose your self.

Osteoarthritis can be prevented by staying physically active, not just sitting all day long with your phone or computer. Go outside, take a small walk and get some sunlight.
Inflammatory Arthritis

A healthy immune system is protective. It generates internal inflammation to get rid of infection ad prevent disease. but the immune system can get awry, mistakenly attacking the joints with uncontrolled inflammation, potentially causing joint erosion and may damage internal organs, eyes and other parts of the body.

Rheumatoid Arthriti and Psoriatic Arthritis are examples of inflammatory arthritis. Researchers believe that a combination of genetics and and environmental factors can trigger autoimmunity. Smoking is an example of an environmental risk factor that can trigger rheumatoid arthritis in people with certain genes.

With this type of arthritis, early diagnosis and aggressive treatment is critical.

Infectious Arthritis

A bacterium, virus or fungus can enter the joint and trigger inflammation. Examples of organisms that can infect joints are salmonella and shigella (food poisoning or contamination), chlamydia and gonorrhea (sexually transmitted diseases) and hepatitis C ( blood-to-blood infection). In many cases, timely treatment with antibiotics may clear the joint infection, but sometimes the arthritis becomes chronic.

Metabolic Arthritis

Uric acid is formed as the body breaks down purines, a substance found in human cells and in many foods. Some people have high levels of uric acid because they naturally produce more than is needed or the body can't get rid of the uric acid quickly enough.

In some people uric acid builds up and forms needle-like crystals in the joint, resulting in sudden spikes of extreme joint pain, or a gout attack. Gout can come and go in episode or, if uric aid levels aren't reduced, it can become chronic, causing ongoing pain and disability.

Heart Attack

Image result for heart attack

Heart attack occurs when blood vessels that supply blood to the heart are blocked, preventing oxygen from getting to the heart.

Causes of Heart Attacks

    • Blood clot in the coronary artery
    • Myocardial fraction (heart muscle dies)
    • Cholesterol and other cells (plaque) are formed and blocked the blood vessels.

How to Prevent Heart Attacks?
  • Control you blood sugar, cholesterol and blood pressure level.
  • Eat a low-fat diet rich in fruits and vegetables, and low in animal fat.
  • Don't smoke
  • Loose weight if you're overweight
  • Eat grilled/baked fish than fried. Frying kills some health benefits and rich in cholesterol.

Symptoms
      • Chest pain is the major symptom of heart attacks.
      • Pain may come in just one part , or may move from chest to arm, neck, shoulder, belly or back.
      • Heavy pressure on your chest.
      • Bad indigestion.
Treatments
  • Exercise Daily/often
  • Go to a hospital and stay in Intensive Care Unit (ICU)
  • ECG connected to your body for detecting your pulse or heart.
  • Enough Rest
  • Take a nitrogylcerin medicine

DNA Extraction from a Banana
Image result for banana dna extraction

Aim: Use a professional method from internet and extract a DNA from banana successfully.

Equipments/Materials
  • 1/2 peeled ripe banana 1/2 cup hot water
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp liquid dishwashing soap
  • resealable zip-top bag (quart size)
  • very cold rubbing alcohol (isopropyl alcohol) placed in freezer ahead of time
  • coffee filter
  • narrow glass
  • wooden stirrer

Method

  1. After the alcohol layer is set up, wait for eight minutes. You may see some bubbles and cloudy material moving around in the alcohol. This is the DNA pieces clumping together.
  2. Mush the banana in the resealable bag for about a minute until all the lumps are gone and it almost looks like pudding.
  3. Fill a cup with the hot water and salt.
  4. Pour the saltwater mix into the bag. Close the bag and very gently squeeze and move the saltwater and banana mush together. Do this for 30 to 45 seconds.
  5. Add the dishwashing soap into the bag and gently mix the contents. Try to avoid making too much foam.
  6. Place the coffee filter in a clear glass cup, securing the top of the filter around the lip of the cup.
  7. Pour the mix into the filter and let it sit until all of the liquid drips down into the cup.

  8. Remove and discard the used coffee filter.
  9. Tilt the glass and slowly add cold alcohol down the side of the cup. You want the alcohol to form a layer on top of the banana mix, staying separated, so be careful not to pour it too fast. Make a layer of alcohol that is 2.5-5cm (1-2in) thick. Image result for banana dna extraction
  10. Use the wooden stirrer to start poking the cloudy stuff in the alcohol layer. Spin the stirrer it in place to start gathering the cloudy stuff. When you are done, take a closer look at the stuff on the stirrer. You are looking at DNA!
Image result for banana dna extraction

I thought I'm going to see a bunch of colourful DNA! But it turned out not, all I see is like a very very thin and white thread. But through this experiment, for the first time in my life (wooooh) I saw a DNA! (starts singing DNA with the choreo) Bananas have DNA too okay, all living things has DNA, we all have our own identity.

Chemistry

Periodic Table

first 20

A substance made of only one type of atom is called an element. Each element has its own name and symbol. Some element retain the symbol based on their Latin name.

If you look on a periodic table, you will notice that each element has a number associated with it. The number is called atomic number (upper left) and represents the number of protons (pink) found in the nucleus . Since the number of proton is equal to the number of electrons (green). The numbers on lower left (orange) is the number of neutrons.

Another number you my find is called the mass number (below the name), this tells you the total number of particles (protons plus electrons).

Formulas:

Number of protons or electrons = the atomic number

Number of neutrons = Mass Number - Atomic Number

The circle thing there is the Electron Configuration (EC), the arrangement of electrons.
The first layer can hold 2 electrons, the second and third layer can hold 8 electrons.
